Toby, who grew up hearing, "Calpheon's nobles are all bad people" thought that the rise in nobles looking for the entrance was related to the appearance of the Gargoyle. That's the reason why Toby and his friends secretly screw over nobles by blocking them on the street or threatening adventurers to collect tolls.
