Letter Inside the Nacre Chest

Description

There's an old piece of paper in a small nacre chest under the maehwa tree.

I wished to devote myself to my lover,
but the earth and skies wouldn't let me.
I shall hide under this maehwa branch
that you, a seonbi, cherished.
Please keep this dry branch warm
for half of the year. Then when winter comes the following year,
I'll be able to keep the promise to
protect you and be by your side for all four seasons.
