Chapter 1: The Calling
The Black Spirit whispered, '...the time to fulfill our little deal drew near.' 'The deal...?' My memory falters. 'What promise did I make?'
At that very moment, a message arrived from the Society of Equilibrium—sent by Eileen herself. No explanation, only urgency: 'Come to Velandir Castle.'
"Ah...! Adventurer! Adventurer! What ever shall I do?"
I rushed to Velandir and found Eileen, overcome with grief and unable to speak. After calming her trembling heart, I was about to hear her story when a deafening roar shattered the air.
I turned toward the sound. People lay sprawled, thrown from a building. Edan cried out a warning to Eileen. And then, from the shadows... blood-red eyes glistening—a gaze burning with fury. Their bearer: none other than Professor Gorgath.
He lunged at Eileen. Edan leapt to shield her, but Gorgath, now a beast, hurled him aside with a feral roar. Only after a desperate struggle did I subdue the professor, suppressing his wild resistance.
"As you can see... the professor... he's started to fall under the Black Spirit's control. What do we do now, Adventurer?"
When the chaos settled, Eileen wiped away her tears and, voice trembling, explained everything. Orwen urged us to join her at headquarters—there was much to report. And so, I adhered to the beckoning call.
